KMC Business Model

KMC is a business model to earn recurring profits of $500 billion financially supported by the investment made by Thakur Family Trust. The model aims to bring about USD 500 billion benefits to the people of Konkan. Best price for milk, socio-economic development, improved health of dairy farmers and milch animals, participation in nation-building, sense of entrepreneurship, self-management, and enhanced quality of life are some of the benefits that the USD 500 billion KMC business model offers to the dairy farmers.

availability of ready infrastructure

READY WATER

The most essential asset for dairy farming is milch animals. Developing highly productive milch animals is one of the missions of the KMC Business model and natural environment in the Konkan region is quite favorable in achieving this mission.

Climate significantly impacts the productivity of cows and other milch animals. Konkan region witnesses a heavy rainfall with almost 46% of the total rainfall occurring in Maharashtra state. This has a huge impact on dairy farming. With high rainfall, the milch animals get enough grazing. This results in cost-effective, high productivity.

Konkan area receives the rainfall in the range 2500 mm to 4500 mm with an average rainfall of 2200 mm per year because of its location in the coastal region.  Further, due to the ample supply of water, the KMC business model has to invest a little to provide cattle feed as most of the requirements are been fulfilled by natural vegetation.

The only requirement left is to supply important vitamins and nutrients to improve health, productivity, and quality of milk. This results in an increased profit being distributed to dairy farmers.

READY LAND

To meet the demand, the KMC Business model plans to initiate its functioning in a magnanimous way. Various sub-plants are to be constructed to process the milk into various milk products.

One plant would be constructed for packaging of processed milk while other plants would be constructed to manufacture ghee, curd, buttermilk, ice-cream, flavored milk, and cheese. Ultra-modern technological set-up is required for fast processing that would result in high-quality products.

Not only the initiation, but the significant expansion is also on the cards for the KMC model. The KMC model plans to expand its business horizontally as well as vertically. KMC model plans to build another cheese plant in due course as well as planning is also for setting up a huge cattle feed plant in the vicinity.

For constructing such a large infrastructure, a huge ready land is required. Konkan region covers approximately 30,746 km2 of land in Maharashtra with Ratnagiri having the largest land. A ready land of 100 acres, for this huge project, has been donated by a donor as a gesture of goodwill. With the help of experienced architecture, KMC model will make the best use of every part of this land to construct a dairy plant with International standards.

READY MANPOWER

KMC Business Model focuses on dairy farmers and their social and economic development. Konkan division in Maharashtra comprises of seven important districts. These include Thane, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Sindhudurg, Mumbai city, and Mumbai Suburban.

The population of Konkan division, as per the 2011 census, is 28601000 with Thane being the most populous one having 11,060,148 people.  However, due to the formation of Palghar district from Thane, Thane is no longer the largest populated state.

Currently, Mumbai suburban is the most populated district followed by Raigarh, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg. This huge population of the Konkan division would help the KMC model to succeed at an unthinkable pace. High supply of milk to the KMC would be ensured by a high number of dairy farmers and milch animals. KMC model had also made provisions for electing a representative to take day-to-day decisions. More choices are available for dairy farmers to choose a person with superior management skills.

With such a huge population, KMC Business Model aims to become the largest dairy plant in India very soon. As the productivity of the plant increases, the economic and social status of dairy farmers in Konkan are bound to increase.
